Itching and allergy medicines
Itching and allergy medicines may be part of a veterinarian’s plan to address itching and allergy-related concerns in dogs and cats. Ask what the treatment is meant to address and which changes to share with the practice. Some veterinary biologics, including certain antibodies, are licensed by USDA, not FDA. An FDA report page does not cover every kind of treatment.
The linked ingredient pages bring together FDA report counts, signs reported after an ingredient, and Green Book product names where available. FDA approves animal drugs and lists them in the Green Book. Brand names are masked in FDA’s public report data; Green Book names do not identify which products the reports concern.
Reports do not prove cause. Counts depend on use and reporting, so they cannot estimate risk or compare products. Use these pages to prepare questions, rather than to rank treatments. Talk to your veterinarian before starting, stopping or changing a medicine. If your pet has an emergency, call your veterinarian or an emergency clinic.
These links do not recommend a medicine. Discuss treatment choices with your veterinarian.
